Flagrant_alt ... menu

Hi guys, I have a couple of menu problems that I hope you can help me with.

I am running SMF RC4, with SMF Articles and EzPortal, with Flagrant_alt on top. Everything works great, but I need to change the way the menu works slightly.

With SMF Articles I want to change it so that the [Articles] menu option only appears for Admins and moderators, but articles themselves have to be able to be seen by all users. I have a modified EzBlock on the site front page that shows the article summary and gives a link to the story itself. If I change the permissions in SMF Articles then visitors and/or regular users will not be able to see the article, so this method is not an option, I need to get in to the code to change who sees the menu option.

The second question is similar, in that I again need to get in to the menu code. I want to create a page (still using the theme, but that may need a different post) and have a link to that page on the menu. Ideally this link should be only visible to registered users.
