Hi, i am on my way to convert my 3 quite large forums from SMF 1 to 2.0.
Have made a testsite at http://www.diskussionsforum.se/vpforum/index.php where i are doing som modifikations on the CS Manual theme.

My wish is to place some ad banners (se picture) below the menu, but above the forum itself.
Placing them in the Ad mod pushes the forum down and makes the horisontal space to narrow (at least 1170 px resolution needed to not get scrollbars sideways...)

I have added menu options to replace the ones i will miss when i take away the "Hi Rickard" welcomefield and links.

Anyone who can point me to in witch file i should edit in order to get rid of the stuff placed where i wish to put my ads?
I will probably need to shrink the gight of the "white" field a bit to, as i focus on minimal scrolling for my visitors.
The ads are 65 px high.

I guess the ad code should go to index template, somewhere here:
But where, and how?

<div class="frame">
<div id="upper_section" class="normaltext">
<div class="user">';

// If the user is logged in, display stuff like their name, new messages, etc.
if ($context['user']['is_logged'])
{
if (!empty($context['user']['avatar']))
echo '
<p class="avatar">', $context['user']['avatar']['image'], '</p>';
echo '
<ul class="reset">
<li class="greeting">', $txt['hello_member_ndt'], ' <span>', $context['user']['name'], '</span></li>
<li><a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">', $txt['unread_since_visit'], '</a></li>
<li><a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unreadreplies">', $txt['show_unread_replies'], '</a></li>
<li><a href="', $scripturl, '?action=recent">', $txt['recent_view'], '</a></li>';

// Is the forum in maintenance mode?

The ad code are as follows:
<table width="100%" bgcolor="#DFE6EF" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<tr>

<!-- Begin Banner Code -->
<table width="780" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="0" align="center">

<!-- END AdPeeps.com Code -->
</div></td>
<td> <div align="center">

<!-- END AdPeeps.com Code -->
</div></td>
</tr>
</table> </tr></td>
</table>

Thanks for your help.

Inthe top of page, where the logo and search window is, i will display more ads.
You can see them in my live forum at: http://www.varmepumpsforum.com/vpforum/index.php

A friend of mine, who help me from time to time, knows where to put the code, but he doesnt solve the problem with not displaying to many ads if the visitor has low horisontal px resolution.
Try in my live forum minimizing the browser window, and update the page, you will see that only ad 1, 2, 3 displays at all time, ad 4 and 5 dissapers if the visitor has to low resolution on his monitor/browser.

I want the site to work without the need for sideway scrolling if the customers have 1024 px horisontal resolution or more.

The code that works in SMF 1.XX looks like this: (deleted everything else in templates "logostrip")
<!-- begin logostrip -->
  <tr>
  <td>

<table  align="left" cellspacing="2">
     <tr>
        <td>

    <div style="float:left; padding-right:10px;" >

    <div style="float:left; padding-left:2px;" >
   <img src="annonser.gif" width="13" height="90" alt="annonser" />

If you need more info, just ask.  O0

PS. Its the function:
<script type="text/javascript">    function checkBrowserWidth() (and so on)
That makes some typ of problem appear, dont remember the exact error, but it was something like: Error, T-string expects "," or ";" in order parse code...

Whats the code for your ads?

I see you allready deleted the userarea?

The stuff in user area only displays if you are logged in.
It is possible for you to register if you would like to see how i changed the menu, and what happends when you are logged in.
(its not possible to post, as it is my test site.)
(Strange that there is no possability to minimize the area, as is the normal possability in most theames?
(Doesnt matter for me as i dont want my visitors to minimize the ads...)

Sorry if my english isnt that great, im from Sweden...  ;)

provide a link to this AD .mod??

Hi.

Its not an ad mod, i use adpeeps advertising system to generate the code for the ads.
The code should be compatible vith HTML and PHP sites.
And it is, i have tried it out, and it works fine in standard curve themes header area (above the manu), and in Ad Management mod blocks.
My problem is: Where in the code should i put it, and witch of the theme functions should i comment out to make free room for the ads.

But the script who evaluates browser horisontal size seems to conflict in some way with the new SMF code.
The script för evaluting the browser size i have gotten from one of my "Värmepumpsforum" members, and it has been working in SMF 1.xx the last 5 years.

If i can get in contact with that member, maybe he can say why it dosnt work...

I am no stranger to pay for support/modifications, if the one who makes the job has got a VAT.nr, and i get an invoice.
I plan to use this theme in at least 3 major sites, maybe 4, and in some way i will need to get support when/if SMF upgrades make the theme stop working.

An other alternativ is to make minor schanges in curve theme in order to fit my demands.
But i really think this theme look tidy and is easy to read.

There is one more thing i need to work in my sites, and it is the mod Tidy child boards, since i dont like the standard textlink childboards. Tidy child board mod is still not supporting SMF 2.0 (only up to RC1.3)

Crip

sorry, but i just do not know ..?
